Creating a Catalog: Selecting Your Baseline Products

A catalog is a selection of products that you choose. These are products that you want to find matches for. These products are called your baseline products.

To create a new catalog, click the dropdown arrow next to the catalog title. From here, you can either select a recently viewed catalog or create a new one from scratch.

To create a new catalog, click the “+” symbol.

You can also select “+ New catalog” from the three-dot menu at the top right of your screen.

Next you need to select your baseline products. These are products that you’d like to find matches for.

Use the filter panel on the left to narrow down your product list. If you know the name of a specific product you’d like to match against, such as a Gucci Marmont bag, you can type this into the search bar.

The products that you are able to add to your catalog update with live data as EDITED tracks and processes products.

Filtering to Find Your Baseline Products

The products you are able to select for your baseline products will be a reflection of the filters you have applied in your filter panel.

  • Calendar icon: shows the market as it was on a selected date, you also have the option to select whether products were in or out of stock on that date.
  • Retailers: the retailers whose websites EDITED track, such as Gucci’s direct-to-consumer website. Use the search bar to find a specific retailer, or type a country code, such as “UK,” to narrow the list down to a region. The choice of retailers to select is a predefined universe set by your organization.
  • Brands: the brands that are available across all tracked websites, such as Gucci products stocked at a third-party retailer like Net-a-Porter.
  • Genders: choose women, men, unclassified, girls, boys and/or unisex kids.
  • Specialities: “Size & Shape” (plus size, petite or tall) and/or ‘Activewear’ (lifestyle or performance, with the option to select products associated with a specific sport).
  • Categories: choose your top level category group, such as “Dresses,” and/or a category such as “Cami/Slip.”
  • Ages & Sizes: choose to view products that are available in a specific size, such as XL.
  • Details: choose apparel or footwear details, such as a dress length or a flat sole, fabrication, or multi-pack options.
  • Keywords
    • Choose which words you’d like your product selection to have included in the name, description, care & composition, offers & promotional information, and/or size.
    • You can also choose to exclude products with specific words used.
    • Search for more than one word together in a set order by encasing the words in quotation marks, such as “faux leather.”
    • If you would like to return products that include one of a selection of words, for example leather, suede or PVC, you’d type in the search box leather OR suede OR PVC.
    • If you would like to return products that include all of a selection of words, such as sustainable, cotton and recycled, you’d type in the search box sustainable AND cotton AND recycled.
  • Colors: choose the predominant color group of products, such as red.
  • Patterns: choose plain or patterned products, or a specific pattern such as stripes.
  • Price & Status
    • Status: select date periods that products were in stock, were new in, first sold out, reached their first majority sellout (over 50% of SKUs sold out) or were first discounted.
    • Price: select price ranges, such as minimum and maximum prices, or price changes, such as minimum or maximum discount percentages or products in which their price has increased.

Selecting Your Baseline Products

Once you have filtered your data set, you can select the exact products that you’d like to find matches for. These are your baseline products.  To do this, use the “Select” button at the bottom of each product card.

If you’ve filtered down your products to 250 or less, you can use the “Select All” button at the top left of the page. This option is useful if you want to find matches for a full collection or category group. You can select a maximum of 250 products per catalog.

To deselect a product, click the “Deselect” button at the bottom of the product card.

Once you have selected baseline products, you can view them on their own by clicking “Selected products.”  You also have the option here to “Deselect all” products.

Clicking “All products” will take you back to your filtered product set.

Once you have selected your baseline products that you want to match against, click “Save catalog” at the top right of the screen.

Name your catalog. You have the option of adding a description.

Click “Save.”

On saving, you will be taken to a table of your baseline products, this is called a grid.
