Tutorial: How Do I Use Group By & Split On Date Controls In Market?
This tutorial is interactive. To move to the next step, please follow the prompts showing you where to click, or use the < and > arrows along the bottom.
17 STEPS
1. This tutorial will teach you how the Group By and Split On controls can help you view your analysis by Date.
2. This example features the Top Words analysis tab within the Competitive Assortment default workbook.
But you can Group By or Split On Date within any workbook module or analysis tab providing Status filters are added in the filter panel.
3. First, make sure that you have date filters added within Price & Status.
4. Click Price & Status.
5. Click Status.
6. Here you will have a number of date status filters to choose from.
For this example let's look at new in spring dress arrivals over the past two years.
7. Click New in.
8. For year-on-year analysis a custom range works best.
9. You can use the date picker to choose the periods needed for your analysis.
10. Click Close.
11. This workbook will now reveal data for dresses that were new in between March 1st - April 30th in 2023 and 2024.
12. When looking at historical dates we recommend adjusting the Calendar icon to look at both in and out of stock products.
This ensures your chart captures any products that might have gone out of stock since their arrival in 2023 and 2024.
13. Here you can see both Out of stock and In stock are selected.
14. Then hover over the Split On dropdown.
15. Click New in.
16. The Top Words chart will now show a year-on year comparison of the most commonly used words within product names per retailer.
17. You can then quickly identify that mini dresses have increased year-on-year at H&M.
You have now completed the tutorial.
