What’s the difference between the Retailers and Brands filters?
- Retailers are the retailers whose websites EDITED track, such as Gucci’s direct-to-consumer website.
- Brands are brands that are available across all tracked websites, such as Gucci products stocked at Gucci, but also at a third-party retailer like Net-a-Porter.
Retailers
- Use the checkboxes to select specific retailers to analyze.
- Type the name of a retailer into the search bar, the list will be refined to match your search.
- Once you have selected your retailers, click Close at the top right to close the filter panel.
Brands
- Use the checkboxes to select specific brands to analyze.
- Type the name of a brand into the search bar, the list will be refined to match your search.
- Once you have selected your brands, click Close at the top right to close the filter panel.
If the name of the brand you want does not appear, this means that it is not part of Market's normalized brand list. This normalized list is a hand-curated list of our most used brands and helps account for minor variations in spelling between vendors (e.g. Seven For All Mankind and 7 For All Mankind would be normalized into the single brand name 7 For All Mankind).
If the brand you are searching for is not in the brand list then you can still search for it using a manual search. This will use the exact words you type to search for the brand across all tracked products.
Retailer & Brand Filter Functionality
Other filters that you have already selected within the filter panel will impact what you see within Retailers and Brands. The example below shows that when the United States is selected as a region, only US retailers are listed. If you had also selected Dresses, the list would only show US retailers that stocked dresses.
When looking at Retailers the retailer’s country code is displayed in brackets, and the numbers next to each retailer show the number of products that match the filtered search criteria at that retailer. Brands also displays the number of products that match the search criteria for that brand.
Use the Include or Exclude button to filter by or remove selected brands and retailers from your workbook. These buttons appear once you have selected a retailer or brand.
For example, you can use the include filter in Retailers to select a multi-brand retailer and then use the exclude filter in Brands to exclude that retailer’s own label brands.
By default, Second Hand Retailers are excluded from your workbook. To include them or look only at these kinds of retailer sites, use the Channel filter found under Price & Status.
This filter also allows you to Include, Exclude or look Only at outlet sites.
Combining Retailers & Brand Filters
- Combine Retailers and Brands filters if you want to analyze a specific brand at a third-party retailer.
- Example: You want to analyze Nike products at ASOS. To do this you’d select ASOS from the Retailers filter and Nike from the Brands filter.
How To Analyze A Brand Or Retailer That EDITED Doesn’t Track
Aside from doing a manual search, it is possible to request retailers or brands through our support button. However, we also ask that you send these requests to the key contact at your company. We will work with each key contact to prioritize an order for which retailer/brand requests should be built first.
