Identifying Top Moving Products

Top Movers are how EDITED defines products that are performing well within the market. There are a few different ways you can analyze Top Movers, including newness, price consistency and speed of selling. Based on the metrics you'd consider as indication of a top performing product, you can apply a combination of filters to pull in these results.

In the below examples, we're looking at ASOS (UK).

Method 1: New In + Not Discounted (or low discount amount) + First Sellout

  1. Build your workbook, choosing your Retailers, Brands, Gender, Category filters as usual - removing the 'In Stock' filter under Price & Status.
  2. Repeat Step 2 as above: Price & Status > Price > Price Changes > Not Discounted + (Discounted with low discount amount applied if desired).
  3. Using the Date & Timeline filter, apply a First Sellout period of your choosing. This will make sure you're viewing products where all sizes sold out during your desired timeframe.
  4. Using the Date & Timeline filter, apply a New In period of your choosing. Adding this on means that the products that you're viewing had good speed of selling. Generally, you should make your New In & First Sellout periods the same.

Method 2: New In + Not Discounted (or low discount amount) + First Majority Sellout

  3. Using the Date & Timeline filter, apply a First Majority Sellout period of your choosing. This will make sure you're viewing products where a majority of sizes (51% or more) sold out during your desired timeframe.
  4. Using the Date & Timeline filter, apply a New In period of your choosing. Adding this on means that the products that you're viewing had good speed of selling. Generally, you should make your New In & First Majority Sellout periods the same.

Top tip: to identify top performers, look for products which display quick sell and rapid replenishment here. In the example below, we can see that most SKU’s sold out within the first month of the product going to market, and it has been quickly replenished a number of times in its lifecycle
