Market: How Are products Classified Into Subcategories?

EDITED Market collects products from the global retail market. The data that EDITED collects is deeply varied and complex. Because these products might vary in image & description, they can fall into multiple subcategories (i.e. a wrap style dress may also be a midi dress in length), so some of our product categories are not mutually exclusive from one another.

Currently most products are classified into mutually exclusive subcategories (i.e . a boot can’t also be a sandal). The categories that have been made entirely mutually inclusive are:

  • Tops
  • Bottoms
  • Underwear
  • Footwear
  • Accessories
  • Hosiery
  • Nightwear.

The remaining apparel categories that continue to be worked on to become completely mutually exclusive are: Dresses, Outerwear, All In Ones, Product Sets, Swim, Accessories & Traditional Garments.  Additionally, our Homeware and Beauty segments are not yet mutually exclusive either.

We will continue to update this page as categories are worked on. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact support@edited.com
