How to Use Order Waterfall

The Order Waterfall has been designed to allow retailers to trace poor net sales performance to various factors, including returns or unshipped orders.

To read this graph, focus on the Sales metric, then look left to see the total order value without promotions or markdowns.

Looking right from the Sales metric, you can understand what downstream impacts can affect the total sales number.

The red and green borders on the metric represent positive or negative change compared to period B.

  • Click on any metric, e.g., Orders, for a Metric Detail Tab detailing what drives individual performance.

A side Metric Overlay panel will appear, including the following information.

Topline Metrics

  • Value for Period A.
  • Value for Period B & % change.
  • Value for Last Year & % change.
  • Value for Target & % change.

  • Line Graphs: Trend & Prediction performance and fluctuations over time.

  • Analyze: Positive, Negative, or Mixed Drivers that impacted the metric.

  • Act: To drive action, include a hyperlink to the most relevant Decision Tree report, e.g., Operations Opportunities.

The waterfalls represent how each metric would ultimately positively or negatively impact net order value.

Green = the metric that would positively contribute to the net order value.

Red = the metric that would negatively contribute to the net order value.

The Order Waterfall begins from the left with the default metric, Full Priced Order Value. Price Markdown Value and Product Promotion Cost are presented in red, as you would subtract these numbers from Full Priced Order Value to reach the total Sales number.
