The Dimensional Insights tools allow you to select ad-hoc data combinations, metrics, charts, and comparisons.
How to Navigate to Dimensional Insights
- Select Insights from the left-hand navigation panel.
- Click Dimensional Insights.
- Select the Dimensional Insights of choice, e.g., Products.
How to Use the Dimensional Insights Reports
Up to 11 options for Dimensional Insights analysis are available based on your subscription to EDITED Digital or Omni and your access level.
- Products: Identifying profitable or top-selling products to optimize exposure, stock levels, trading, and customer experience.
- Marketing: What Marketing Channels/Campaigns drive the highest demand and profit?
- Customers: Which Customer Segments drive the most profit/demand? How does new customer behavior differ from existing ones?
- Orders: Which orders drive demand and profit, cancellations and returns, alongside key shipment statistics.
- Promotions: Which promotions drive demand and profit, and how does this impact brands and customers?
- Web Content: Attribute sales & views to web navigation categories
- On-Site Search: What do customers search for but do not yield results? What searches are trending?
- Shipping Areas: Attribute cancellations, returns, and sales to Shipping Areas.
- Inventory Locations: Which inventory locations have optimal stock units, availability, and products in stock?
- Selling Locations: Attribute sales, profit, and conversion to store locations.
- Order Channels: Attribute sales, profit, orders, and average order value to order channels.
The selection of the type of Dimensional Insight report outlined above defines a starting point. For example, if you would like to analyze categories, departments, divisions, brands, products, etc., select Products.
Dimensional Insights Options
Select the first dropdown at the top of the Dimensional Insights report page to switch to any other dimension.
The data provided in the Dimensional Insights grid will pivot off the selected dimension in the far-left-hand column, in this case, Department.
Select the second dropdown at the top of the Dimensional Insights report page to change this dimension. For example, you can change it to a Product Name or even a Product ID.
In this example, the department with the highest sales was Men.
Dimensional Insights Data Grid
The first column includes links, which allow you to drill down to the next level of data granularity. The GIF below shows how to:
- Click on the first link in the far-left-hand column: in this case, Department, Men.
- You will then go to the next level of granularity within the Products Dimensional Insights report, Product Category 2, which will appear as a new dropdown at the top of the page.
- To revert to previous views, e.g., Department, click the X on the dropdown.
How to Add/Amend Fields & Metrics to Dimensional Insights Reports
- Click Edit Grid on the right-hand side of your Dimensional Insights report.
- Click Add metric/ field to add either a metric or a field.
- Click on any additional metric or field, e.g., Available SKUs. Click the metric or field of choice.
- Click Add once you have selected all additional fields and metrics.
The metrics that you can see may differ from the examples provided here. EDITED will work with your teams to use alias metrics to match your business naming conventions.
- Click Apply once you have changed and want to return to the Dimensional Insight Grid.
How to Add Filters to Dimensional Insights Reports
- Click Edit Grid on the right-hand side of your Dimensional Insights report.
- Scroll to the Filter section, and click Add filter.
- Click the first dropdown to select a filter field or metric, e.g., Department.
- Click the second dropdown to select a rule, e.g., Is
- Click the third text box to add the specific filter criteria you want to apply, e.g., Men.
You can click the search button under the text box to get a predefined list of all the possible filter criteria you could apply. Once you have selected your criteria, ensure you click Add Selected.
- Click Add Filter to save.
How to Add Comparisons to Dimensional Insights Reports
Users can select comparisons for the data in the grid. For example, you can compare metrics against the total, against previous periods, or against targets.
- Click the dropdown menu in an individual column to add a comparison to that column.
- Click Add Compare Column.
You can also add comparisons through the process included below.
- Click Edit Grid
- Click the Compares dropdown.
- Select the + Icon next to the comparison type, which will apply it in bulk to all metrics/fields.
How to Re-order Columns in Dimensional Insights Reports
You can re-order the columns to see the most critical metrics/fields first in your data grid in two ways.
- Dragging column headers left to right.
- Clicking & dragging metrics/fields within by clicking Edit Grid; see below.
Anything to the left of the snowflake icon will freeze the column in place. Those frozen columns will stay static as you scroll to the right of your table.
How to Sort Dimensional Insights Reports
The sort functionality allows you to sort columns Ascending or Descending.
- To sort on a column, click the dropdown menu in an individual column.
- Select either Sort Ascending or Sort Descending.
The Reset Sort option will remove all sorts except for the default sort for the list.
